The Designs of the Year 2015

NEWS The Design Museum

Over the past few weeks, a few of the team here at Bonfire have travelled down to the Thames River bank, London to see The Designs of the Year exhibition at the Design Museum.

The team enjoyed a (relatively) sunny afternoon trip meandering around the museum and were able to cast their votes for the finalist that they thought should win the title of ‘The Design of the Year 2015’. The team selected their favourite entry from 76 finalists within 6 categories; this including architecture, digital and graphics. This interactive exhibition was not only thought provoking but also inspirational, amongst the favourites were the entries of ‘Shadowing’, the successful ‘Les Fruit & Légumes Moches’ campaign and also the ‘Waterbank Campus’ project in Keyna, Africa.

Running alongside the Designs of Year 2015, was the ‘Life on Foot’ exhibition featuring Camper Shoes, with a focus on the history, ethics, and creative motive behind this uniquely designed and extensive collection of footwear. The team were able to take in the sights of the Camper advertisement archive and managed to capture a few snaps of the captivating prints.

Taken from the Design Museum’s historic archive, the ‘Collection Lab’ exhibition evidences the evolution of the design and functionality of day to day objects throughout the past five decades. Raising the concept of ‘what defines design’ with interactive displays and explores why and how development in the industry occurs.
